What We Explored….
It has been a great first week in the Bambini Classroom at Bennett Day School! In just two short days, we have started to get to know one another through “name game songs” sung during Morning Meeting. We have also started exploring and investigating all the different types of materials that we have in the classroom: the art, block, nature and dramatic play areas. One friend showed interested in investigating what type of bones makes up a skeleton in the nature area! In the block area, other friends were investigating the different types of construction trucks and their purposes using Emma Garcia’s construction book, Tip Tip Dig Dig. In the art area, another friend was exploring playdough using his senses-touching, smelling and tasting!
For Next Week…..
Next week, our daily routine will include a group snack before dismissal (Our classroom schedule for the next week). We will continue to ask you to step out of the classroom based on how your child is doing. If you stay in the classroom, try to distance yourself from your child and let him/her explore the room at his/her leisure. This will help him/her establish some independence while staying in the classroom with you.
The Story Behind Our Practice….
The purpose of Morning Meetings is to provide us with the opportunity to start the day together as a group, but also to promote a sense of community, respect, and social awareness amongst the children. Even if you child does not want to participate in Morning Meeting, we feel very confident that he/she will be able to engage in the topics and activities at Morning Meeting soon. Look for more information about Morning Meeting on our school website.
